Northside Christian Church began in 1977 on January 2nd with approximately 35 members. The Northeastern Ohio Association of Helpers (N.O.A.H.) began the work, which initially met in Wadsworth’s Masonic Temple. The worship services were held in the Masonic Temple until November 21st, 1982 when the first stage of our current facility was constructed. Howdy Hill was called as the church’s first full-time minister in November of 1977. Robin Hart, our current Sr. Minister, began his ministry on January 1st, 1984.
The church has seen consistent growth throughout her history. In October of 1989, the second phase of the Reimer Road building was completed, which allowed for more growth. Also in 1989, the church hired an Associate Minister to help in the ministry of the church.
After many years of prayer, the decision was made to construct a new building and land was purchased on Ridge Road. Many activities led to our first service on May 15, 2005 including someone from the congregation praying at the building site everyday for a year prior to construction, writing scripture on the floor during construction, and reading the entire Bible continuously from the new pulpit prior to moving in.
Because of these steps to allow for growth, our attendance jumped by 1,000 people our first week, and we currently average between 800 and 1200 in attendance at our Sunday morning services.
Northside is a Christian, non-denominational church. This means we are an independent body of believers who follow no other creed or regulations, other than what is found in the Bible.
We are a Bible believing church. We accept both the Old and New Testaments as the inspired word of God, therefore, we try to imitate New Testament precedents. That is why we call our leaders "elders" and "deacons", why we take communion every week, and why our preaching is about Jesus Christ.
We are a mission-minded church. Our responsibility is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we achieve this through mission work around the world and community outreach here in our own town.
We are a worshipping church. We gather together weekly to praise God through singing, Scripture reading, preaching, and communion.
We are a caring church that encourages our members to use what they have learned to help people in need. Every member is encouraged to serve using the gifts that God has given them to glorify Him.
